A table that asks nothing

Hospitality without the performance. On cooking for the people you already love.

An evening oak table with candles, bread, olives, and dried grasses

There is a kind of cooking that exists to be photographed, and a kind that exists to be eaten while the conversation is still going. We are interested in the second.

A grateful table is not a tablescape. It is a roast chicken, a pot of beans, a cake that can sit out all afternoon. It is enough bread. It is the permission to use the everyday plates. It is a house that does not require a special occasion to feel like one.

This is also a promise to the cookbook that has been waiting. Not a doorstop of technique. A short book of the meals we actually make — the ones that can be held in the head, and made with what is already in the kitchen.

Come to the table as you are. The food will meet you there.
